An old time resident of Louisa county passed away Wednesday night, when the summons of death was received by Mrs. James Manley, two miles south of Columbus Junction. For the past two weeks her health has been impaired and her demise was caused by old age and a general breakdown. She had attained the ripe old age of ninety-eight years, most of which time had been spent in that vicinity. She was a life long member of the Christian church and was stead fast in her duties and service to the church.

Mary Anne Manley was born in Frederick county, Maryland, May 12, 1812. Mr. Manley passed away about ten years ago. She will be mourned by many residents of this section, who greatly respected her because of her kindly interest in those about her. Mrs. Manley is survived by one son, Albert Manley, of Columbus Junction and a daughter, Miss Mary, who resides at home. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian church in Columbus City and were conducted by the pastor Rev. S. R. Drake. Interment was made in the Columbus City cemetery.
