Page 8(Muscatine) - Mrs. Matilda Brookhart, an aged resident of Muscatine county, died quite suddenly Sunday night, April 17, 1910, about 11 o'clock, after an illness of half hour, the cause of her death being heart failure. Her death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Silas Fry, near Cranston. Mrs. Brookhart had been staying with her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Van Pelt, at Van, Neb., for the past five years, having returned to Cranston only a week ago. She was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. G. F. Moles, of Phillip, S. Dak., who, besides Mrs. Fry and family, was with her in her last moments. She had on Thursday preceding her death attended a quilting and dinner with her old neighbors at the pleasant home of Mrs. and Mrs. Jack Cecil.
Mrs. Brookhart was a most excellent woman, greatly beloved by a large circle of relatives and friends. She was ninety-three years of age at the time of her death and had always enjoyed good health. She was an aunt of Mrs. M. E. Blanchard and Mrs. Ed Hicklin of this place. The funeral was held Tuesday, April 19, at 2:30 p. m., Rev. A. W. Percy, assisted by Rev. Robert Boyce, of the Christian church. Interment was made in the cemetery at the Brick church, four miles northwest of Letts.
