A party of relative and friends were here Monday on their way from Muscatine to Mediapolis to attend the funeral of J. W. Calloway, a former resident of the vicinity of Kossuth, where he was born Sept. 18, 1860. His death occurred near Muscatine Saturday, May 29, 1909, at the age of almost forty nine years. He was married to Miss Artha Allen Ping about twenty-four years ago and lived in Ainsworth about nine years, later returning to the vicinity of Kossuth where the family resided until two years ago, when they located about three miles from Muscatine. He is survived by his wife and nine children. The funeral was held at Kossuth Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. J. N. Elliott, pastor of the First Presbyterian church in Muscatine.
