Page 1Brinkley Perkins, a former resident of this county, died Nov. 6, 1907, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Weitman. His death was die to old age and general debility. He had been failing for the past year and has been confined to his bed for three months. Mr. Perkins was born in Sessex county, Delaware, on March 17, 1823, and spent his youth in that locality. In the fall of 1852 he came west and settled in Iowa, near Grandview. Later he moved to a farm near Toolesboro, where he resided until about 17 months ago, when he moved to Muscatine and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Weitman.
Mr. Perkins took an active part in public work during the greater part of his life. For four years he served as school director in Louisa county and also served a term as supervisor. He was preceded in death by his wife. The deceased is survived by one brother, Warner, in Ohio and two daughters, Mrs. John Weitman and Mrs. L. J. Harris, of Muscatine and one step-daughter, Mrs. S. Meyers of Grandview. The funeral was held from the home of his daughter in Muscatine this afternoon, conducted by Rev. P. M. Conant. Interment in the Toolesboro cemetery tomorrow (Friday) where relatives are buried.
