Mrs. J. E. Lee was called to Cone yesterday to attend the funeral of her little grandson, Ernest M., son of Oren Lee, residing near that place. The little fellow was born Jun 10, 1898. When he was about four years old he received an injury from falling across a bobsled. An operation was later found necessary, and parts of two or three ribs were removed from his left side below the heart. The wound, however, refused to heal and gradually sapped his little life until death released him from his sufferings. He was a brave and patient sufferer and wonderfully plucky. He was down to visit his grandparents only two or three weeks ago and walked from the home of J. E. Lee, in north Wapello, to the Rock Island depot, a distance of three quarters of a mile or more. He was up and around just a few hours before his death, which occurred on Tuesday evening, Nov. 19, 1907, at the age of 9 years, 5 months and 9 days. The funeral was held this afternoon, at 2 p. m., at Cedar Bethel, east of Fredonia where the burial was made.
