Mrs. Sarah Jane Newell. Sarah Jane Mock, the subject of this obituary, was born in Johnstown, Penn., Sept. 3d, 1833, and died April 24th, 1905, aged 71 years, 7 months and 21 days. She removed with her parents to Louisa county and settled close to Wapello in 1844. She was married to Thomas Newell on April 4, 1850 and had resided for 55 years on the farm where she died. To this union eleven children were born, all living, except one who died in infancy. The funeral was held at the Fairview church at 2 p. m. Wednesday, conducted by Rev. T. S. Pool, assisted by Rev. M. E. Reusch. She was laid in the peaceful church yard by the side of her husband, who had preceded her in 1899.
