Tuesday evening of this week the word passed from lip to lip of the death of Mrs. Rebecca L. Ives, wife of County Auditor, C. J. Ives. Her illness was of about a month's duration. Mrs. Rebecca Townsend Ives was born in this city March 7, 1852, and died at her late home at 7:20 p. m. July 12, 1904. Her father was Samuel Townsend, now deceased; her mother Mrs. Louisa A. Townsend, now living in Burlington. Of her father's family five brothers are still living, Geo. E. of St. Louis, Mo.; Albert A., of Wapello, Ia.; Frank, of Burlington, Ia., Jesse K., of Wilkinsburg, Pa.; Oliver, of Unionville, Mo.; also a half sister, Mrs. Rose Young, of Washington, D. C. and a half brother, Samuel Davidson, of Unionville Mo.

Miss Rebecca Townsend was married to Cicero J. Ives November 2, 1870, in the M. E. church, of Wapello. Nine children have blessed the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ives: Rhoda Louisa, Neva Loulie, now deceased having died in infancy; Frank, of Wapello; Mrs. Nellie Emelie Gunnels, of Ft Dodge, Ia.; Rosa Anna, Cornelia Matise and Walter Mallory, of Wapello, who with their father now survive her.

Mrs. Ives has spent her entire life in Wapello and was known and loved by a host of friends. She was a faithful, loving wife and mother and will be mourned by the whole community. Services will be held at the home this afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. M. E. Reusch, of the M. E. Church.
