Mr. William McMahill, only son of Thomas and Sarah McMahill, was born in Lexington, Ky, June 22nd, 1825, and after a lingering illness fell asleep, April 21st, 1904, aged 78 years, 9 months and 29 days. Of his father's family there were eight sisters, and none survive the deceased. Mr. McMahill was united in marriage to Mary Ann Walker in Missouri in the year 1847, who still survives him. To this union was born ten children, eight of who are still living: James, of Moberly, Mo., Eratus, of Wapello; Mahala Knight, in whose home he spent his declining years; Lida Howey, wife of Dr. Howey of this city; Mrs. Mina Hart, John and William, of this city; Mrs. Anna Bishop, of Muscatine.

Mr. McMahill came with his parents from Kentucky to Missouri when a child. Here he grew to manhood and after marriage moved to Illinois, lived there until 1860, when he came to Louisa county. He united with the Christian church in early life and has given his long life in the service of the Master. The funeral services were held from his late residence Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted b Rev. W. H. Cooper. Interment in Wapello cemetery.
