Thomas G. Glidden was born in Marrieta, Ohio, March 4, 1836, died at his home, 4 miles northeast of Oakville, Wednesday, April 20, 1904, at 5:30 p. m., aged 68 years, 1 month and 16 days. Deceased had been in feeble health for eighteen months past, from a complication of diseases. He came to Mercer county, Illinois, in 1850 and settled near New Boston. July 4, 1859, he was united in marriage to Margaret Lacey, died May 15, 1903. To this union were born nine children, eight of whom survive. they are: John C., Walter S., Samuel W., Richard T., Cynthia, Charlotte and Irene, all of whom reside in and near Oakville; Clyde D., of New Boston. They have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement. The funeral services were held from the Christian church in New Boston, Friday, April 22, at 1 o'clock p. m., conducted by Rev. T. S. Tague. Interment in the New Boston cemetery.
