Mark Peck, an old settler of the county and a highly respected citizen, died at his home near Elrick Junction last Friday after a week's illness. Mr. Peck was born near Afton, New York, June 1, 1826. On February 14, 1850, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Bishop, in Andrew county, Mo. They moved to Louisa county, Iowa, in 1851, settling near Elrick and not far from the home where he died. To this union were born ten children, six sons and four daughters, all of who with the wife survive him, except one son, who died in 1885. The funeral services were held Sunday from the Methodist church at Northfield conducted by Rev. Bentzinger, of Oakville, with interment in Northfield cemetery.
