This community was greatly saddened Tuesday morning to hear of the death of Miss Julia Davis, which occurred during the night. Her many friends were aware that she was failing rapidly, but did not expect to hear of her death so soon. She had been ailing for a long time with consumption, and although every effort was made, nothing could be done to stop the ravages of that terrible disease. The deceased was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Davis, and was born in Wapello Jun 13, 1879. She was a graduate of the Wapello high school in 1897, and the last few years her time has been occupied with giving instructions in instrumental music.

She joined the Methodist church when twelve years of age, and remained an active member of that organization until a few years ago, when she united with the Christian church. She was a faithful christian and an interested worker in the church, and she died with a firm hope of an everlasting life. Socially, she was of a bright and sunny disposition, and to know her was to life her. She was a member of Darexa Rebekah lodge, where she will be mourned as a worthy sister.

Of her immediate relatives she leaves a mother, a sister and four brothers to mourn her untimely death, the father preceding her to that better world about six months ago. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon from the Christian church, conducted by Rev. Dunkleberger, assisted by Darexa lodge, interment occurring in Wapello.
