David Washburn died at Muscatine Saturday, aged eighty-nine years. He was the last surviving member of the famous graybeard regiment organized in Muscatine county in 1861 and consisted entirely of men over forty-five years of age. The regiment went immediately to the front under command of col. William Kincaid and remained until the close of the war, participating in many important battles, and became known in both the confederate and union armies as the graybeards. Now the sole remaining member has answered the great roll call above.
