Geo. H. Mosier, a resident of Toolesboro, and well known throughout the county passed away at his home yesterday morning about 4 o'clock. He had been sick but a short time and his death was a severe shock to the community. Deceased was born in Fairfield, Ohio in 1831, and was a son of Jacob and Indiana Mosier, the father of native of Virginia and the mother of Pennsylvania. The death of the mother occurring when he was about two years old, Mr. Mosier made his home with an uncle in Fairfield who in the year 1836 moved to South Bend, Indiana. Deceased received his education in the city schools of South Bend and in 1844 went to Hold county, Mo., and worked upon his father's farm for four years, after which he returned to South Bend and attended school for another year. In 1850 he went to Newville, Indiana, where he clerked in a store for a year, returning then to South Bend.

In the year 1851 he was united in marriage to Miss Amanda A. Denio, a native of New York. One year later the young couple came to Louisa county, settling in Toolesboro, where they establish and carried on a store of general merchandise. Mr. Mosier continued this occupation until 1882, since which time he has lived a retied life. To this couple were born two children, Charles Leonard, a farmer near Toolesboro and Sarah L., who died in 1857 at the age of three years.

Mr. Mosier was well known throughout the county. He held the office of postmaster at Toolesboro for twenty-five years, and took an active part in all political and public affairs of the county. He was a self made man having commenced life with nothing but a strong determination to succeed. The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, May 1 at one o'clock at the church in Toolesboro, conducted by Rev. Hankins. Interment will occur in the Mallory cemetery.
