Morning Sun was cast into deep mourning last Sunday morning by the announcement of the sudden death of G. D. Huffman, a prominent citizen of that city, which occurred between 10 and 11 o'clock the evening previous. The shock to his family and friends by his sudden death was very great. His sudden death was accredited to heart disease. He had been complaining all day of not feeling well and to those whom he conversed with just before going home at night he said that he had considerable pain in his chest and arms, it was about 10 o'clock when he retired for the night and he had no sooner laid down on the bed than he began to breathe very heavy. His wife thought there was something wrong and attempted to rouse him. This she could not do, and she at once awoke the family and sent for a doctor. It was too late, and in a short time, without regaining consciousness, his spirit left the body.

The deceased was born in Ohio and came to Morning Sun in the seventies, since that time he has been associated with his father and brothers in the merchant tailoring business. He was a splendid, good hearted man, of a sunny disposition and made friends with every body he came in contact with. He was enterprising and progressive and was elected several times to the office of councilman and also a member of the school board. He was a member of the G. A. R., Knights of Pythias and Legion of Honor. He united with the M. E. church in 1893 and lived a consistent Christian life. He leaves a wife, six children, father, sister, brother and a host of friends to mourn his death.

Impressive funeral services were held in the M. E. church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Loveall conducted the services, assisted by Rev. McFadden and T. S. Pool and interment was made in the city cemetery beside his little son.
