Consumption has invaded our city claiming as its victim, Mrs. Eva Shaffer Babbitt. Last winter when so many of our people were afflicted with measles she contracted the malady which seemed to prepare the way to quick consumption which resulted in her death June 3d. She was born in Bard, Iowa, Aug. 5, 1879, aged 17 years, 9 months and 29 days. The funeral was conducted by Rev. T. S. Pool and was held on Saturday at the home of her father Jacob Shaffer in south Wapello.
