George Humphrey Crow, was born May 21, 1815 at Mt Pleasant, Jefferson county, Ohio. He was the son of a farmer, and with his parents remained on the farm until 1834 when he moved to Ill, and two years later came to Iowa, locating in Grandview township. Not long after he moved to Pt. Louisa township where he continued to reside until his death. He was twice married, the first time in 1837, to Miss Jane Williamson who died Oct. 26, 1845, the last time to Eliza J. Ronald, July 1, 1846. There was born to him from this last marriage four sons and six daughters. Beside the aged widow, four sons and three daughters survive him.

Mr. Crow came from a religious family and the early training of his parents remained with him through life. Soon after coming to this state he united with what was then the Seeder church at Grandview and afterwards was one of the founders and most faithful supporters of the Harrison U. P. church. Mr. Crow had been in failing health, but up to about two weeks ago he had been able to walk about the house and visit his neighbors. When at last the reserve forces failed him he rapidly sank at midnight, July 1st, 1893 his mortal life ended. The funeral occurred from the Harrison church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the services begin conducted by Rev. C. H. Mitchell of Brighton, Iowa, assisted by Rev. J. H. Condit of this city. A very large concourse of friends accompanied the remains to their last resting place in the Harrison cemetery.
