Mrs. Janet M. McDaniel died in this place Monday morning, aged 69 years and 4 months. Her maiden name was Tasuner. She was born in Ohio and grew to womanhood in Carlinsville, Ill. She came to Burlington in 1836 when there were but six families there and to this county in 1837. Her husband, C. M. McDaniel, who preceded her in death, was for a number of years Sheriff of this county. He was, in fact, the first Sheriff elected. One Sheriff by appointment had preceded him. To this couple were born 11 children, 3 girls and 8 boys. There are now living 6 sons and 1 daughter. The funeral was observed at the M. E. church Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Mahurin preaching the sermon to a large audience.
