The community was shocked Tuesday morning by a telegram from Burlington which stated that T. M. Howey had died there at 4 o'clock, from pneumonia. He had only been ailing three of four days and it was not know that he was in danger. The remains were brought here yesterday and the funeral was observed in the M. E. church, Rev. Wilhelmi preaching a very able discourse. Deceased was 40 years, 2 months and 6 days old. He was born, grew to manhood, was married and lived in this county all his life, and had the respect of the community. He leaves a wife and one child, besides other relatives. Only two weeks ago he moved from here to Burlington to engage in business there.
