The community was grieved Wednesday morning when word was received of the death of Mrs. Lester Hafner, at her home near Letts, following a brief illness of only a few weeks. Ola Etta Warthman was born in Columbus Junction, November 11, 1884 and died November 7, 1922. Her early life was spent in this community and in 1903 she graduated from the Columbus Junction high school with first honors, receiving a scholarship. She was married November 2, 1909 to H. Lester Hafner, the ceremony being performed at Muscatine. She was a regular attendant at the Methodist church at Letts and a member of the Philathea class. She was highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends and acquaintance who mourn her untimely death.

She is survived by her husband and two children, one son, Byron and one daughter, Adelia and one brother, John C. Warthman. Her father died in this city in 1910 and her mother and the following year. Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at the home conducted by Rev. R. L. LeMott, pastor of the Methodist church at Letts and interment was made in the Columbus City cemetery.
