Mrs. M. J. Pierce. - Mary Janett Crammon, daughter of J. B. and Elizabeth (Conkins) Crammond was born in Columbus City, December 2, 1859 and died at the home of her sister, Mrs. John Zion, Columbus Junction Monday, October 2, 1922 aged 63 years and 10 months. She was united in marriage June 20, 1877 to Allen J. Pierce at Algona, Iowa. They made their home in Cedar Rapids for two years after which time they moved to Emmerson, Canada, where he died the following year. She then came back to Louisa county. She followed the dress making trade for several years. For the past fifteen years she has made her home with her youngest sister.

Mrs. Pierce united with the Christian church in early life and remained faithful to the end. Her parents, two brothers, William and Albert and one half sister, Alzada, preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Green, of Bancroft, Iowa. Two half sisters, Mrs. Frances Swank of Wapello and Mrs. Mae Zion of Columbus Junction and two half brothers, S. D. and J. B. Crammond of Wapello. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the M. E. church at Columbus City conducted by Rev. R. C. Prewitt with interment in the Columbus City cemetery.
