The Grandview community was terrible shocked Tuesday forenoon when the word was flashed over the telephone lines that Jean Joan, the two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harve McCulley, had drowned in the water tank. Threshing crews were stopped and neighbors hastened from the entire community to offer their aid. Just how the little girl got into the tank no one knows. She was last seen playing near the tank with her young brother. The tank was surrounded by a fence and when the brother came back he was horrified to find his sister in the tank. He drew her body from the water and left her lying inside the fence. He ran then into the house and said he believed his sister was dead, as he had just taken her out of the water tank. Medical assistance was summoned immediately for her as neighbors rushed in from the surrounding homes. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning.
