Deep sorrow was brought to many homes in Columbus Junction Saturday evening when the sad announcement was made that Mrs. L. S. Myers, had been called in death. Although the critical nature of Mrs. Myers' illness arising from the sudden development of an inward goiter was known to immediate family for several days, hope was held out till the end that she might recover. She passed away Saturday evening, August 5th, after an illness of little more than one week.

Hattie Williams Myers was born at Oklahoma, October 23, 1896. Her parents came to Louisa county when she was four years of age and located on a farm five miles west of Columbus Junction where they continued to reside for ten years when both were summoned in death. After their death she made her home with her sisters and December 1, 1920, she was united in marriage to Postmaster L. S. Myers, of this city, at Washington, Iowa.

In young womanhood she was converted and united with the Welsh Congregational church in the Welsh Neighborhood. She was devoted to her home and gave to it her best efforts and endeavor. She is survived by her husband and baby son, Samuel Eugene, born November 14, 1921 and two sisters, Mrs. R. L. Evans, of Winfield and Miss Mae Williams, of Fairfield and one brother, John R. Williams, of Columbus Junction. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Reformed church conducted by Rev. W. H. Dillon. Interment was made in the Columbus City cemetery.
