Jacob Martin, veteran traveling wholesale grocery salesman and a resident of this city for over 30 years died at 11:30 Tuesday following an extended attack of diabetes at his home, 706 East Sixth street. He was sixty-eight years old. He was born December 31, 1854, at Grandview, Iowa, where he resided until reaching his twenty-fifth year. After being in the grocery business at Columbus Junction for eight years he came to Muscatine 32 years ago and lived here ever since. He traveled for C. L. Mull and Sons, local wholesale grocers, for 25 years and also with the Smith & Burdick company of Davenport for three years. Ill health forced him to retire three years ago.

He married Miss Linda Holliday January 2, 1876. Two children were born both of whom survive. Besides his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George Weeks of Los Angeles, Calif.; a son, Orville Martin of Davenport; two sisters, Mrs. D. M. Bridges and Mrs. Margaret Stineman, both of this city; and a granddaughter.
