F. Merle Courts, a well known attorney, of Morning Sun, died Sunday morning at the Burlington hospital following an operation for appendicitis. Deceased was born in Morning Sun and lived there his entire life. He graduated from the Morning Sun High school with the class of 1907 and later to Iowa Wesleyan college at Mt. Pleasant. After the death of his father in January, 1920 he continued the practice of law.

On July 1, 1916, he was married to a schoolmate, Beatrice Orchard Kitechen, who survives. He joined the army during the early part of the war and rose to the rank of lieutenant. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church in Morning Sun Thursday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. W. E. Tinney. The services will be in charge of the Masons in conjunction with the American Legion.
