Mrs. Cynthia M. Williams a resident of this community for practically her entire life, passed away Wednesday morning, October 28 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Fry, at Davenport, after an extended illness. Cynthia Melvina Limbocker was born near Scipio, Indiana, March 22, 1845 and died at Davenport, Iowa, October 31, 1923.

Her father, Alfred Limbocker, came with his family to Iowa the same year she was born and located on a farm three miles southeast of Columbus City. In the year 1860 she was united in marriage to John W. Hawes, who preceded her in death. To this union nine children were born, four of whom survive to mourn her death, one son, John W. Hawes, of Muscatine, and three daughters, Mrs. C. W. Milam, of Vallejo, California, Miss Beulah Hawes, of Denver and Mrs. Mary Fry, of Davenport.

In March, 1910, Mrs. Hawes was united in marriage to Thomas Williams, of Conesville. They moved to Columbus City and made that their home until the death of Mr. Williams, three years ago.

Religiously she was affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal church and was active in all its undertakings. The body will be brought to this city for interment and funeral services will be held at the Methodist church at Columbus City, Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. Roy Johnson, of this city.
