Francis Whisler, one of the pioneer residents of Louisa county, died at his home at Wapello Thursday evening, May 3, 1923, at 4:30 due to leakage of the heart. Deceased was born in Richland county, Ohio, near Mansfield, April 27, 1836 and had reached the age of 87 years and six days. He was married in Ohio to Miss Mary Ann Grismore. In 1861 they moved to Iowa and settled on a farm in Marshall township where they lived until February 1901 they moved to Wapello. Mr. Whisler was a man respected and admired by a wide circle of friends. He was a firm believer in the principles of the democratic party. He was for many years a booster for the Columbus Junction fair and never missed attending one or more days each year.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Arthur, of Wapello, Ray of near Winfield and one daughter, Mrs. S. A. Christmas, of Swanksville, Pennsylvania. Funeral services were held from his home in Wapello Saturday morning at ten o'clock conducted by Rev. Chas. Blanchard, of Des Moines and interment was made in the Wapello cemetery.
