William H. Layton, a well known citizen of this community, died at his home on West Hill Monday morning, May 7th, after a brief illness. William H. Layton was born at Fredonia, November 10, 1872. Soon after starting life for himself he went to Minnesota where he spent three years. He returned to this city a few years, then in search of health went to Sheridan, Wyoming, where he spent eleven years. Returning to this city he went to work in the depot lunch counter and took complete charge. About a year ago he engaged in the restaurant business. For twenty seven years he was a member of the local order of M. W. A.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. John Layton and two brothers, Robert of this city and Edgar, of Washington. His father preceded him in death a few years ago. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two thirty at the home of West Hill conducted by Rev. W. H. Dillon. Interment was made in the Fredonia cemetery.
