Mrs. Charlotte Walker, for many years the oldest resident of Louisa county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.A. Knott, Monday morning, May 7th, a few minutes before six o'clock after a brief illness. Grandma Walker was born in Kentucky June 23, 1820. Her maiden name was Charlotte Rehan and when quite young, her parents Thomas and Nancy Rehah, moved to Indiana. In 1840 at the age of twenty she was united in marriage to Jesse Walker and eleven years later they traveled down the Ohio river by boat to Cairo Ill. They came up the Mississippi to the mouth of the Iowa which they followed upstream as far as Toolsboro. Soon after they moved to Fredonia which they made their home.

Mr. Walker was an earnest Christian man and became a regularly ordained minister. Mr. Walker passed away many years ago. Mrs. Walker, until her 100th birthday was a regular communicant of the Methodist church at Fredonia. Mrs. Walker is survived by four daughters, all of this immediate community, Mrs. Wm Cassabaum, of Columbus City, Mrs. Robert Dunahoo and Mrs. W. H. Wilson, of Fredonia and Mrs. E. A. Knott who lives a short distance south of Fredonia. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist church at Fredonia conducted by Rev. W. S. Knight, of Des Moines. Interment was made in the Indian Creek cemetery.
