William Morse was born in Louisa county, December 8, 1868 and died at his home in Columbus Junction March 8, 1923 surrounded by loved ones. He was the son of Alvah and Jane Morse, and spent practically all his life in Louisa and Muscatine countries. He was always interested in the welfare of the community and was a friend to those in need. In October 1889 he was united in marriage to Barbara Ellen Gooch. To this union three children were born. One child died in infancy. This union was broken in 1897 by the death of his wife.

On September 12, 1899 he was united in marriage to Maud Hinkhouse who with her two sons, Aura of Cotter and Ray of Berkely, California are left to mourn his death. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, and one brother Jerome, of Cedar Rapids and two sisters, Mrs. Milton Wolf of Columbus Junction and Mrs. Dan Smith of Letts besides other relatives and friends. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Swank church and he was laid away in the Swank cemetery with the Rev. C. R. Prewitt officiating.
