Jacob McDaniel, a well known and highly esteemed resident of Morning Sun, died at his home in that city, Thursday, March 1, at 7:30 p. m. aged 79 years and 8 days. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Morning Sun, Saturday, March 3rd at 2:30 p. m. conducted by Rev. W. E. Tinney. Interment in the Morning Sun cemetery. Jacob McDaniel, son of Simeon A. and Mary McDaniel, was born in Clark County, Iowa, February 23, 1844 and came to Iowa with his parents in 1855. He was united in marriage to Miss Parmelia Ann Painer at Fredonia, Iowa, August 20, 1872. To this union were born two children, J. J. of Morning Sun, Iowa and Mrs. Hattie Cook of Los Angles, who could not be present at the funeral because of sickness.

There are five grand children and three great grand children. Three brothers, Sylvester, Dean and Corden of Fredonia Iowa. One brother J. T. preceded him in death June 1901. One sister, Samantha Musser, who died May 2, 1919.

Mr. McDaniel was converted and joined the M. P. church in Clark Co., Iowa in February 1894. He came to Morning Sun in 1901 and has since resided in town. He held membership in Yeoman lodge No, 260 and in the Masonic lodge No. 396, both of Murray, Iowa.
