Chester Alden Rutt was born January 14, 1900 near Cairo,Iowa and died Wednesday morning, November 9, 1921 about 2 a. m. at his aunt's home, Mrs. James Bates of Wapello, aged 21 years, nine months and 25 days. He leaves to mourn his departure his father, Frank Rutt and two brothers, namely Floyd an Clone, a grandmother, Mrs. Fanny Rutt, residing in Wapello with her daughter, Mrs. James Bates where Chester also made his home ever since he was nine years old. The deceases also leaves four uncles on his mother's side. Chester's mother passed on before him when he was only five years of age. His sickness lasted for over one year during which time he was under the doctor's care most of the time.

Chester was converted about seven years ago at the Church of God in Cairo. Shortly after his conversion he united with the Oakland Presbyterian church. Funeral services was held in the Evangelical church in Cairo Thursday afternoon. Rev. Geo. J. Roths preached the sermon. Interment was made in the Cairo cemetery.
