John Leonard Riley, a veteran of the Civil War, and an citizen of Columbus City, died suddenly at his home at 3:30 Wednesday morning, October 12th. He was born July 20, 1842 and served with distinction in the Civil War. He was twice married. His second wife was formerly Mrs. B. F. Knott and she with the following sons and daughters, survive to mourn his death. Jess, Tep and Tom Riley, of Crawfordsville; Mrs. John Zook, of Washington; Mrs. W. S. Seltrecht, of Covington, Iowa; Robert Riley, of Muscatine and Mrs. A. J. Marion, of Columbus City.
