Page 1Mrs. Samuel H. Duncan. -- Sarah Elizabeth Edwards was born near Sweetwater, Monroe county, Tennessee, December 27, 1840 and died at her home near Cotter, October 10, 1921 at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 13 days. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1851, coming by boat and landing at Port Louisa, from there they went overland by ox team to Todd town. This county has ever since been her home. She was of a kind and helpful disposition. She was united in marriage to Samuel H. Duncan, September 5, 1863 who preceded her in death about nine years ago.
To them were born nine children as follows: J. K.; C. L.; Robert L.; Oscar E.; Guy and Garry, all residing near home and Mrs. Della Nellis, of Aberdeen, South Dakota; Clyde E., who dies in 1904 and Issac who died in infancy. She is also survived by two grandchildren and one great grandchild, and the following brothers, James, and Francis Edwards, of Columbus Junction; Z. L., of Haskins; and M. W. of Beeler, Kansas. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the home conducted by Rev. G. A. Ingle with interment in the Columbus City cemetery
