Rhu Emma Pumeroy Hankins was born August 10, 1854 near Ft. Madison, Iowa and departed this life at her home at Cone, Iowa, September 2, 1921 at the age of 67 years, 22 days. On October 29, 1875 she was united in marriage to John R. Hankins at Ottumwa, Iowa. To this union seven children were born. Four dying in infancy and Cass, Thomas R. and Madge L. Gay all of Cone. She leaves to mourn her death her husband John R., three children, Cass, Thomas and Madge Gay. Three granddaughters, Orel Fay Gay, Gwendolyn and Cecil Hankins, of Cone. Two sisters, Ellen Jane Cloyd of Kansas City and Rosanna Harsch of Ottumwa and one brother, George Pomeroy of Riverton, Nebr. Funeral services were held Sunday morning at 11 o'clock conducted by her pastor, Rev. G. A. Ingle. Interment was made in the Brockway cemetery.
