Wapello, Ia, Aug. 8 - the body of Luther Vollmer, who was killed in action October 20, 1918, arrived in Wapello, Friday morning from Hoboken, N. J. and was taken to the home of his parents. Funeral services were held in the court house park Sunday afternoon in charge of the Luther Vollmer Post of the American Legion. The sermon was delivered by Rev. W. S. Moore, former pastor of the first M. E. church, now of Wellman, Ia., and prayer was offered by Rev. O. E. McBride. The services were largely attended, the Legion Post Legion Auxiliary, G. A. R. and W. R. C. marching from the home to the park in a body. Burial was made in the Legion memorial plot in the Wapello cemetery with military honors, taps being sounded by Kenneth Keck.
