Mrs. John L. Jones, who husband is a brother of W. O. Jones and Mrs. Joseph Davis, of the Welsh Neighborhood died at her home in Iowa City, June 5th. Funeral services were held at the Welsh Congregational church Wednesday morning conducted by Rev. Houston, of Iowa City. Interment was made in the Cambrian cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Jones, the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Jones, was born at Pottsville, Penn., July 2, 1860 and passed away in Iowa City, June 5, at twilight. Her girlhood was spent in Ohio and Pennsylvania, where she won recognition as a soprano soloist. She followed her parents to Iowa in 1881, after completing her years work as a teacher in the public school of Audenried, Penn., and on November 21, 1888, she married John L. Jones, of Ainsworth, Iowa.

Since coming to Iowa City in 1903, Mrs. Jones has been affiliated with the Congregational church. Her declining health, for several years, has kept her from participating in active service, other than caring for the interests of her home. Mourning her death are her husband, John L, Jones, of the Folwell company of Iowa City; two daughter, Katherine Jones Merriman, of Seattle Wash.; and Frances, of Iowa City and one son, William, a successful young man of Denver, Colo. Three sisters also survive, Mrs. Cyrus Tudor, of New Dayton, Alberta, Canada; Mrs. J. A. Jenkinds, of Chicago and Mrs. T. R. Reese, of Iowa City. A brother, J. Hayes Jones, of Detroit, Michigan, also grieves.
