Page 1The funeral services of John Cummings, prominent farmer of Marshall township who died Sunday, Feb. 27, were held Tuesday, March 1. Burial was made in Oakland cemetery. William John Cummings was born in Louisa county, Iowa, January 23, 1866 and was 55 years, 1 months and 4 days of age at the time of his death. He was married to Adda Nichols of Louisa county, Iowa, March 6, 1894. To this union five children were born, on son dying in infancy.
Those living are William G., James H., E. Raymond and Leonard A., all residing in the home community. Besides the bereaved wife and children deceased also leaves a brother, H. C. Cummins of Marsh and one sister, Mrs. Ella Parr of Troy, Idaho.
He was united with the M. E. church at Prairie Chapel in the year 1895 and afterward removed his membership to the Winfield M. E. church. He followed the occupation of agriculture and was a prominent and successful farmer.
