Joseph W. Meeker, a lifelong resident of Muscatine county, and a frequent visitor of this city, died at his home in Cranston, Saturday, March 12th, following a very brief illness with apoplexy. Mr. Meeker was born in Muscatine county, January 17, 1849. He is survived by his wife and four children, J. P. Meeker and Mrs. Maude Chapman of Muscatine, Ernest Meeker, of Cranston and Mrs. Hattie Lee of Ardon. He is also survived by one brother, Warren Meeker, of Cranston. Thirteen grandchildren also survive him. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Cranston United Brethren church and interment was made in the Cranston cemetery.
