Page 1Gear E. Buffington was born November 24, 1892 near Columbus Junction, Iowa and met his death at Cedar Rapids, March 8, 1921. On October 22, 1912 he was married to Blanche V. McKean who lived east of town and they went to Cedar Rapids, where they have since made their home. His wife and one son Edwin, six years old, survive to mourn his death. He also leaves his father, C. Buffington, of Columbus Junction, one brother Carl, and one sister, Mrs.Lulu Hinton, both of this place, his mother having died when he was twelve age.
Since August 1912 he had been employed by the Rock Island railroad in a various capacities. He became a switch man December 15, 1917 and was an active member of the S. U. of N. A. Cedar Rapids local.
Brief services were held at Cedar Rapids from the chapel at 1 o' clock Wednesday after which the remains Wednesday after which the remains were taken after the body was brought to the city Wednesday evening and taken to the funeral home of Gilkey & Anwyl on South Hill and this morning at eleven o'clock funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church conducted by Rev. W. H. Dillon with interment in the Indian Creek cemetery.
