Edwin B. Cotter, son of Mr and Mrs. Richard Cotter and one of Louisa county's best known and most prominent young men, died at the hospital at Ames, Iowa, Tuesday, March 13, 1917, following an operation for appendicitis. Mr. Cotter was a student at the Iowa Agricultural college and was one of the leaders in the college life. He was a member of the Ames Varsity football squad. His life gave promise of a brilliant career of usefulness which adds a tragic tinge to his unexpected demise. Edwin B. Cotter was born at the Cotter home eight miles south of this city in December 1893. He later attended the Winfield public school and after his graduation entered the state school at Ames. He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cotter and two sisters, Mrs. Roy Miller, of Keota; and Pauline, at home; and four brothers, Will J. of Richland; Henry, of Iowa City; Cleve and James, at home. Funeral services will be held at the home Friday afternoon at one o'clock.
