John D. Jamison, a well known farmer living near Wapello, committed suicide Saturday evening by shooting himself with a 32 caliber revolver. Mr. Jamison had just purchased the Will Kelly farm adjoining Wapello and planned to move this week to the new location. After arranging for the purchase of the farm he went to town Saturday morning and not only signed the papers required in the sale but also gave numerous other accounts the required attention. He then returned to his home about five miles south of Wapello, went into the bedroom and fired the bullet into his head dying instantly. Mr. Jamison was born in Louisa county, January 13, 1849 and spent his entire life in this county. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Jamison, pioneer settlers of the county. His wife died a number of years ago and a brother, James Jamison and family made their home with him. Funeral services were held at the Bethel church Sunday afternoon.
