Wm. Whited, one of the oldest residents of this community, died at the county farm Saturday night, January 17, 1917. Wm. Whited was born in Bedford county, Pennsylvania, in May, 1832. He came to this country in an early day and was united in marriage to Susan Stroup, who passed away many years ago. To them were born ten children, only three of who remain and are: Mary, wife of Sam Johnson, who resides in St. Louis; Amos, of Nebraska and Charles, of Wapello. On January 29, 1896, Mr. Whited was again married to Mrs. Isabelle Dobson, in Wapello, Ia, who still lives in that city. Several months ago his health became such that he asked to be taken to the county farm, where he has had the best of care. Funeral services were held from the M. E. church in Wapello Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock conducted by Rev. C. E. Coggeshall and the remains taken to Morning Sun for interment in Elmwood cemetery.
