Mrs. Dan Neff died at the hospital at Mt. Pleasant, Tuesday morning, January 9, 1917, at 11 o'clock. She had been taken to the hospital for treatment the latter part of last February but her health continued to fail until death relieved her from her suffering. Malinda Baker was born at Edgewood, Illinois, November 28, 1868. Twenty-four years ago she was married to Dan Neff, a well known resident of this city and they made Columbus Junction their home for many years. Several years ago Mrs. Neff was converted and united with the Methodist church of this city. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. J. O. Fender, of Aledo, Illinois and one brother, Jack Baker of this city. The husband and three step children, also survive. The stepchildren are: Mrs. George Can Auken, of this city; Mrs. J. B. McNamer, of Ainesworth and Wm. Neff, of Washington. The remains were brought to this city Wednesday morning and taken to the home of South Hill. The funeral will be held this Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. E. C. Brooks. Interment at Columbus City cemetery.
