Mrs. Hiley Teeple Mullen, a well known resident of Cairo for many years, died December 29, 1916. Mrs. Mullen, whose maiden name was Teeple was born at Ft. Wayne, Indiana, November 28, 1846 and came to Cairo when a girl 15 years of age. She was married January 3, to James Mullen, at Wapello. He died August 22, 1913. Two children survive to mourn the death of their mother, Mrs. Iva Sleigh and George Mullen, of Wapello. Mrs. Mullen was a devoted Christian woman being a member of the Church of God at Cairo for the past 23 years. The funeral service was held, Sunday, December 31st, conducted by her pastor Rev. Jesse Huddle. Interment was made in the Cairo cemetery. The surviving sisters are: Mrs. Harriet Stroops, of Ardmore, South Dakota, Mrs. Sarah Coon, Manley, Nebraska; Mrs. James Brown, Moline, Illinois; Miss Emeline Teeple, of Cairo, Iowa.
