Mrs. Amanda Jones McKay, a prominent resident of Wapello died at her home there at 6:20 o'clock, Saturday morning. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gustavus Jones, pioneer settlers of Louisa county. She was born near her present home February 4, 1849 and was united in marriage with Daniel McKay, August 7, 1867. Although no children were born to their union, Mr. and Mrs. McKay gave home to six children as follows Oliver Lovewell of Conesville, Mo., Horace Baker, former auditor of Louisa county, Abbie Yakly, wife of George Yakly, who died last year, Arthur Wanzer, of Idaho, Laura Reynolds of Gladwin, Ia and Nellie Dotson of Newport, Ia. The deceased, who was a member of the Eastern Star order at Wapello, is survived by her husband, Daniel McKay, president of the Farmers Mutual Insurance company, a nephew, Horace Baker, of Wapello and a sister, Mrs Sarah Hurley of Cordell, Okla. Funeral services were conducted at the home at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon. Interment at the Wapello cemetery.
