Ebenezer Bell was born in Morgan county, Ohio, February 8, 1841 and died August 16, 1916, being at the time of his death, 75 years, 6 months and 8 days of age. He was married September 3, 1867 to Jemina Spencer. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Emma Dunphy of Muscatine, W. W. Bell of Syracuse, Nebraska, Mrs. Minnie Stewart, of Monmouth, Illinois, the wife dying October 1st, 1872. He was married again October 16, 1873 to Samantha Spencer. To this union were born, 9 children, two dying in infancy. Those living are Mrs. Lizzie Hawkins, Mrs. Carrie Quigley, Mrs. Geneveve Jones, Mrs. Omrie Peters, Spence, Milford and Mae of Cotter and vicinity. He had been a member of the U. P. Church of Columbus City since coming to this state in 1872. He was a member of the G. A. R. Camp of Columbus Junction. The children were all present at the funeral the three sons and sons-in-laws acted as pall bearers. Funeral services were held from the home at 1:30 Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. Johnson of Columbus City. Interment was in Columbus City cemetery.
