James E. Lee, one of the well known pioneer citizens of Louisa county, died at the home of his son, R. M. Lee, at Fredonia, Wednesday night at midnight. Mr. Lee was known familiarly as Doc Lee and had an extended acquaintance all over southeastern Iowa. For a number of years he held an important official position with the Rock Island. His wife died very suddenly the latter part of December at Wapello and he never recovered from the shock. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church at Fredonia Friday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. E. C. Brooks. Interment at Cedar Bethel. He is survived by two sons, R. M. Lee and Oren Lee and one daughter, Mrs. Bailey Murray, of Cairo.
