The remains of Mrs. Martha VanDyke were brought to this city last Friday from Kansas City and taken to the undertaking parlors of Hause and Sands. Friday afternoon a funeral service was held at the Methodist church at Fredonia conducted by Rev. E. C. Brooks. Interment in the Fredonia cemetery.
Martha Jane Ewing was born in Mackinaw, Illinois in 1852 and died at her home in Kansas City, April 27, 1916. She was married in 1863 to Clay C. VanDyke, who died several years ago. They made their home at Fredonia until about 18 years ago they moved to Kansas City. To them were born eight children one of whom died at Fredonia and the other at Washington. The surviving children are: Mrs. Cora Rehl, of Denver, Colorado; L C. VanDyke, of Panama; T. H. VanDyke, Mrs. Leila Stewart, C. G. VanDyke and Mrs. Emma Bouton all of Kansas City.
