Mrs. Eliza Fitzgerald, one of the oldest and a highly respected resident of the Harrison neighborhood, passed away at her home Friday morning at 8 o'clock. She suffered a stroke of paralysis last Tuesday which affected her speech, and she continued to grow worse until relieved by death. Eliza Predmore was born in the state of New Jersey, March 25, 1832 and died at her home near Wapello April 28, 1916, aged 84 years, 1 month and 2 days. At the age of two years she moved with her parents to Clarmont county, Ohio, where she grew to womanhood. In girlhood she united with the Methodist Episcopal church and twenty-six years ago she changed her membership to the United Presbyterian church at Harrison.

April 7, 1850, she was united in marriage to Ezekiel Fitzgerald who preceded her in death August 14, 1883. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald: Arrabell, who died at the age of three years and two months; Fosdick, who resides near Wapello; Laura Bell, the widow of R. O. Chaney and who resides in Thomas county, Kansas; Amy Jane, wife of J. R. Syphrit, of near Wapello; Wm. Grant, who died at the age of two years and four months; George Linclon of Wapello and Mary Ellen, wife of O. P. Dotson, also of Wapello. Deceased is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral serviced were held at the Harrison church Saturday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by Rev. Mr. Coverntry and Rev. Mr. Coggshall. Interment in the Grandview cemetery.
