Joseph Hull, who has lived in Mediapolis for almost fifteen years, and who has been a life-long resident of that county, having been born west of Burlington August 30, 1841, passed away at his home there Wednesday morning February 23, 1916, about 3 o'clock. He had been in poor health for a couple of years or more, but was not bed fast. A few days ago he was taken worse, and failed rapidly.

He was married to Miss Lucy Houx, November 27, 1864, she preceding him in death a little more than two years ago, she passing away January 13, 1914. Mr. and Mrs. Hull were the parents of nine children, four of whom survive - C. E. Hull of Los Angeles, California; C. A. Hull of near Cairo, Iowa; John Hull of Ft. Madison, Iowa and Mrs. Bertha Barton of Mediapolis. Besides these he leaves fourteen grandchildren. Some thirty-five years ago Mr. and Mrs. Hull moved to a farm near Yarmouth where they made their home until in March, 1901, when they went to make their home in Mediapolis. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. C. B. Hankins of Morning Sun, Mr. Hull's pastor not being able to conduct the service. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Kossuth near Mediapolis.
